Darlene M. Snow
Event Planner / Manager
I have a passion for working behind the scenes to pull together an event - especially when it involves non-profits.
Working with events probably started when I was a kid and walked in the Walk for Mankind; which my mom
coordinated. As I got older, I worked with her on an actual walk in Poway, California and I would have to say
that I was hooked.
What Do I Bring to the Table - Why Me?
A natural fundraiser with 18 years of special event background. A self-managing, self-starter who delivers an optimistic and positive attitude, has exceptional communication skills in working with both internal and external clients, vendors, suppliers, board members, sponsors, donors, and volunteers; can adapt to change quickly, handle challenging situations with unmatched flexibility and is well versed and experienced in negotiation and public speaking. A creative and strategic thinker who executes positive outcomes in both individual and team environments.
An event professional in both corporate and non-profit industries. Attended The Fundraising School through an accelerated course in San Diego - receiving my certificate in Fundraising Management. This course is offered through the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. Course included Principles and Techniques of Fundraising; Developing Leadership for Major Gifts, Planned Giving; Interpersonal Communication for Fundraising.
I am a Board Member with Leadership Shelby and Habitat for Humanity of Shelby County and a member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce - Past Programs Chair and currently serve on the Programs committee.
My Background - My Story - My Interests (The cliff-notes!)
My journey took me in a few other directions before I came back to events when I worked as the office manager for Heroes and Legends. When they closed their doors, I was blessed to be offered the job as event coordinator for the Burn Institute in San Diego. This became a part of my blood - the people, the cause, the events...all of it was a perfect fit for me and I found a passion. I worked with this wonderful organization for several years. Then another opportunity opened up with Blue Feather Management...
My mom's business, Blue Feather Management - A Professional Speaker Management Company, was rockin' and rollin' and she had a change up in her team and asked if I wanted to come work for her. Of course I did! We have made a great team for years now, assisting professional speakers, and I am so blessed to work with my best friend, who just happens to be my mom.
Assisting with managing speakers was an incredible opportunity and that lead to identifying a need within the industry to provide business support. I created VAwithPizzazz to address one of the needs of speakers; which is to handle their day to day tasks - and I do this virtually.
What I have realized is my true passion is events...no matter how small or large they are, I love them. It was coming to this conclusion over and over again that made me decide to promote what I do and offer my event planning and management services.
If you need help planning an event and are interested in getting more information about the types of events I have done, let's either chat over the phone or meet in person to discuss. I would love to find out what your event goals are and how we can make them happen!
What Type of Person am I on a Personal Level?
When I'm not working, you can usually find me hanging out with my pups. However, I am involved
in my community and enjoy getting out to take part in local events and visit/support local businesses.
I am a strong believer of paying it forward and giving back to the community I live and love.
A couple things about me, I love love love country music! I love living in a smaller town where the
traffic jams tend to be four cars ahead of me at the traffic light. I also love football and baseball. I love
serving others and paying it forward - I don't have it all...but I am blessed in my life.
I have two amazing pups and my world tends to revolve around them. I am blessed with an awesome
family and we get together often.
Life is good and I am thankful for my journey, where I've been and where I've yet to be.
